college life | saturday ramble

Happy Saturday, everyone! I hope your week has been as eventful as mine.

This week marked the start of my on-campus college career. With the COVID-19 restrictions, including having a very limited amount of guests to help me move in, the day unfolded in a strange, exciting, and bittersweet manner. I had to walk around the school to take a COVID test and then pick up my ID and room keys. This all posed a problem since I have a terrible sense of direction and none of the staff told me where to go. (I eventually figured it out by wandering with other equally confused students.) After I unpacked my room, said goodbye to my one guest (my mom), and decorated my room, I felt like I was in a hotel.

I’ve done nothing but organize for the upcoming semester and watch Arrested Development.

It’s nice to enjoy the nothingness of this week, as we are in a mandatory quarantine until Monday which states that we will not be leaving our rooms unless we have to eat or go to the bathroom. While I have yet to feel bored, I do have that suspiciously calm feeling one has when they are waiting for something important to happen. Overall, I’m feeling good about this whole virtual/ on-campus college thing. 4.0 season!

I’ll be posting on Sammicakes every Wednesday and Saturday morning, so keep looking out for my posts! Thank you for reading, and I hope to see all your faces soon.

I couldn’t imagine being quarantined and taking courses online while on campus, but as an introvert, that sounds amazing to me! I think you are well on your way to getting a 4.0! I did a lot better than usual when all of my courses were online 🙂

What is your major? I may have asked this already but it’s hard for me to keep track lol

That’s what my husband majored in – chemical engineering! He works as a chemical engineer now 🙂 Based on your majors I can already tell that you are super smart!

I have 2 degrees 🤭 First degree is a B.Sc, majoring in biology and minoring in nutrition and nutraceutical science; second degree is Bachelor of science of nursing (BSN).

I have to try really hard compared to my peers, and even then my grades are usually the median class score. My peers were very smart and being surrounded by smarter people made me feel stupid when I first started university. Then I realized that this is a class of really smart people. High school knocked me down… in high school my grades were above average. In university, my grades were average.

I learned that hard work leads progress, even if that means having to outwork everyone initially. That’s what gives me the motivation to keep going ♥️ I listen to entrepreneurial podcasts (not that I am one) because I their way of thinking.

  3. I’m pretty new to this whole on-campus during covid thing as well. Last semester was my first semester and let me tell you… it was a lot. I sure hope your experience on campus goes better than my first semester did! As interesting as it was, I still managed to have a lot of fun. Haha I hope this comment wasn’t too scary at all lmao. Good luck!
