sweet city| poem

Winter storms on a windy dawn,

they carried me out from bedrooms of boredom and yawns!

There I saw people with heads that bobbled too far from their necks,

but twas a splendid time, no less, no less!

A girl of straw hair ordered an ice cream cone that stacked hot cream miles high,

until it hit the long nose of the sun in the sky–Hey, watch it!

Cars smiled ceaselessly trying their best in such pounds of snow, see how they squash and stretch and grow!

Mothers danced gracefully, holding the tap dancing children by their necks.

Buildings made of green and pink gumdrops and festered wood take up most of the city scape,

a sapphire cat guarding a chocolate prison, as best a cat could.

In a place so pretty, in such a good city, the loud and the simple must go,

lest they cause a fuss and spoil the fun of the midday gingerbread show!
