Another month gone, another in its place.
This was a month of romance stories, classic comedies, and Tyler Perry movies.
Before this month, I had never seen a Madea movie! I had assumed that all of Perry’s movies were goofy, poorly done, ignorant and gross and rude, or just flat out unfunny. I had misjudged him so hard! With the exception of 1 movie I watched (as you’ll see below) I found them all extremely funny and even heart-warming. Though the jokes are pretty outlandish just like the premise, Perry handles intense subject matter with a sensitivity and delicacy that surprised me.
Outside of Tyler Perry’s movies, I also watched a lot of other Black Classics, like Poetic Justice and The Best Man–only the best of the best for Black History Month!
The sole book I read this month was Surviving the Shift by black millionaire Dr. William Pickard. He visited our school two months ago to discuss his story and the contents of his book. His energy and enthusiasm, as well as the wisdom, hope, and deep anchoring to faith inspired me so, so much. I’m making the most of all this stage in my life offers me, taking risks with confidence and faith, and connecting with others for both present fun and future long-lasting relationships. It was a really great read and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to tap into a ‘millionaire mindset’ in all aspects of your life!
The movies I watched in the order I watched them:
Movies
- First Love
- The Last Song
- Nobody Walks (A pointless movie to me)
- The Last Unicorn (A strange but beautiful 80’s animated movie. I’ve known about this movie for years, it was lovely to finally watch it) ❤
- Bel Ami
- Daddy’s Little Girls
- I Can Do Bad All by Myself
- One Fine Day
- The Princess Diaries
- Something Borrowed
- It’s Complicated
- The Wedding Singer
- In Love and War (Incredibly boring)
- Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
- Bridesmaids
- Zoolander
- Beauty Shop ❤
- Poetic Justice
- Just Wright ❤ ❤ (My favorite romance movie of the bunch. Queen Latifah is so good!)
- The Best Man ❤
- Stepmom
- Madea’s Witness Protection Program
- A Madea Christmas
- Meet the Browns
- A Madea Homecoming
- The Help (I watched this for the first time over ten years ago, and I can’t believe how much I remembered it!)
- Good Deeds
- Madea’s Family Reunion ❤
- Mona Lisa Smile
- Hidden Figures (Very motivating while studying for STAT midterms)

Such a great list of movies. Tyler Perry is a great writer but sometimes struggles with the ending. The book you read sounds like a goodie!
Cheers to a new month my beauty and I’ll see you tonight🌸♥️💞
😘 I love you my sweet!
