slip into consciousness at the touch of cotton soft skin
and contrasting fingertips.
eye the waving sultry curls of blond against brown locks,
after closing the satin blinds, drawing in closer the four walls,
existence beyond glistening and diminishing into small nothingness.
the nothingness slips away, slips away, slips away…
understand the importance of this moment
only when this moment has passed,
or better yet when the warm heart beside you has been trampled cold,
when all of this has slipped away, slipped away, slipped away…
succumb to sweet black night—in all of its fragrant, enigmatic comfort–
sugared to its ever-slipping, ever-ending core.
cast the inevitable aside,
and let the pallid angels in their embers sing to you both,
harps strung to the tune of nearly nostalgic fidelity,
and let the breaths intertwine,
inhaling the scent of their lavender
and blackberry sleep,
slipping away, slipping away, slipping away…
