fading sadness | poem

it’d be fine if I died tonight

looking up at the pale moon in the sky

while the wind blows across our faces,

always shifting, fingers twitching with disconcert

would it be fine if we died tonight

no suicide, no realized tragedy

looking for a reason to stare

all sadness lifting, fading, vanishing

I want to take

your hand,

but that other person is still in my mind,

and still in your heart.
